Introducing Helen and Andi

They both met at work (Kao UK). Helen started in June and then Andi joined in November, they got on well with chatting about music and their shared appreciation of Jarvis Cocker from Pulp. They got together at work drinks on a Friday in the work local pub located in Carnaby Street, London and starting dating in the March, they both still work at Kao but in different departments.

The night before Andi proposed, they were walking through Hatton Garden in Holborn and Andi pretended he didn't know it was an area you can buy engagement rings, putting Helen off the scent! On Good Friday, they were meant to be going on a pub crawl with a couple of friends in the afternoon and Andi told Helen that he'd booked a surprise brunch to line their stomachs and needed to leave for a table across the river in Fulham, They walked to the river and Helen asked Andi if the ferries run on Good Friday, they went to look and there was a lovely boat with 2 captains at the end of Putney Pier, they introduced themselves and Helen thought there had been a mistake as we weren't getting a boat, but they took her hand and led her onto the boat.

Andi carried on pretending it wasn't anything special. During the boat trip, they went out the back of the boat and going past MI5 on the Thames, Helen said 'I bet there are a lot of secrets in there' Andi replied 'Actually, I have a secret of my own' and he got down on one knee, showed the diamond ring and asked for Helen to marry him. Helen said yes and was crying as the captain bought out champagne and took photos. The boat pulled in to Westminster Pier, where 8 of their friends were waiting, cheering and clapping, they all got on the boat and the 10 of them continued the boat trip to Greenwich and back for the next 2 hours, with champagne and food and then went to various pubs in Putney afterwards to carry on celebrating. The rest of the Easter weekend we spent visiting their parents and families.

Helen & Andi got married inside St Mary's Church which is located in the grounds of Portchester Castle in Hampshire, I've always wanted to photograph a wedding in Portchester as it is such a beautiful setting and only a few minutes drive from where I live. Helen & Andi choose to get married in the same church where Helen’s parents were married 40 years ago to the week, they had the traditional entrance and exit music at the wedding ceremony as it was such a traditional setting and during the wedding they also had the choir sing Amazing Grace (which was also at Helen’s parents’ wedding).

Their wedding ceremony was a traditional service but their wedding reception at Upper Parsonage Farm in Petersfield was a very laid-back and relaxed occasion, mixed with a Shabby Chic style it created a unique intimate yet tranquil vibe throughout the day which created emotional moments followed directly with laughter and smiles.
